Connecticut’s Bottle Bill has the lowest container redemption rate in the country. Only about 50% of the state's beverage containers are returned for recycling. With Connecticut in the midst of a waste and recycling crisis, we must do more to keep cans and bottles out of the state's incinerators and increasingly expensive curbside recycling systems. By improving our bottle return program, we can keep tens of thousands of tons of containers out of Connecticut's incinerators each year.
Modernizing the bottle return program will help the state's towns and cities save money, reduce litter, save energy, and create new jobs – all supporting a thriving green economy. Tell your legislators to act now for a bottle return program that will help create a more sustainable Connecticut.
