Toxic chemicals called PFAS have been found at unsafe levels across Vermont – in our water, our farm fields, and more.
And our federal laws designed to protect us from these toxic threats are broken, leaving us exposed to serious health threats linked to PFAS, like learning disorders in children, fertility and pregnancy issues, impaired immune system function, and more. But a new bill making its way through the Vermont legislature could change that.
S.20 would help stop PFAS at the source by targeting five different areas of products that are major sources of exposure and environmental contamination: Food packaging, firefighting foam, carpets and rugs, ski wax, and children’s products.
