Tell Your Congresspeople to Protect Clean Water

The Clean Water Act has protected our lakes, rivers, wetlands, and drinking water for over 50 years. Now, Congress is threatening to gut it.

Their new PERMIT Act would sacrifice our water bodies to benefit polluters. Loosening restrictions on PFAS, known as “forever chemicals,” permitting massive amounts of agricultural runoff, and limiting communities’ ability to block projects like oil and gas pipelines is just the tip of the iceberg. We can’t let this dangerous bill pass.

Please write to your congresspeople to tell them to protect the Clean Water Act from this reckless attack. Even congresspeople who are already voting against the PERMIT Act need to hear that they should be strong and vocal in their opposition. Together, we can preserve clean water in the U.S.

As a constituent, I want you to vote against the PERMIT Act. This bill is a wish list for polluters that will gut the Clean Water Act and put our lakes, rivers, wetlands and drinking water at risk. It would dangerously weaken regulations, giving polluters far more ability to dump chemicals like PFAS and pesticides into our waterways. It would also make it hard for states and Tribes to fight back against environmentally destructive projects like oil and gas pipelines in their communities. Due to this and many other terrible provisions, this bill would damage our environment and our health.

I don’t want to have to worry if the water from my tap is contaminated. Please vote against this bill and encourage your colleagues to vote against it as well.
